President of Eurofins Viracor BioPharma Services and Eurofins BioAnalytical

Jason Neat

Jason Neat is the President of both Eurofins Viracor BioPharma and Eurofins Bioanalytical. He is responsible for the daily oversight of Operations, Quality Assurance, Facilities, R&D, and Finance for the afore mentioned business units, in addition to Sales and Marketing for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma. Prior to joining Eurofins in 2022, Jason held the position of Executive Director of US Bioanalytical Services at PRA Health Sciences. For more than 20 years Mr. Neat has been engaged in the drug development and CRO industry, serving in multiple facets of research and business leadership. He is a highly experienced and successful corporate leader, having held multiple executive level positions with leading global contract research organizations.  His background also includes roles in sales/business development, scientific research, and as a principal investigator on multiple studies, along with involvement in new service and product launches, and oversight of three laboratory buildout projects. Mr. Neat holds a B.G.S in Human Biology and minor in Chemistry from the University of Kansas.

Vice President of Business Development & Marketing

Mike Bunkers

Mike Bunkers is the Vice President of Business Development of Eurofins Viracor BioPharma.  He is responsible for the daily oversight of the commercial team of the Biopharma Services division.  Mr. Bunkers has 20 years of experience in the CRO industry and joined Viracor Eurofins in 2018.  Prior to joining Viracor Eurofins, Mike served as a Senior Director of Business Development for a Global Contract Research Organization.  Mike has held several roles in the CRO industry with a primary responsibility for selling laboratory solutions to the Biopharma industry.  Mr. Bunkers graduated from Minnesota State University with a BS in Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences and a Minor in Chemistry.

Vice President and Business Unit Manager (BUMA)

Crystal Marti

Crystal Marti is the Vice President of Laboratory Operations and Business Unit Manager for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma.  She provides oversight and leadership for Science, Operations, Project Management, and the BioPharma laboratory including sample management and testing and is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction as well as quality and regulatory compliance in operational support of clinical trials.   Ms. Marti has held many leadership positions within the laboratory since joining the company in 2007 and has contributed to the onboarding of numerous technologies and platforms specializing in implementing new workflows and process improvements.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Director of Finance

Scott Pellman

Scott Pellman is the Controller of Eurofins Viracor BioPharma. He is responsible for the oversight of the daily financial operations within the Company including reviewing financial reports, monitoring accounts, and preparing financial budgets and forecasts.  Mr. Pellman joined Viracor Eurofins in 2008 and has held positions as Financial Analyst and Accounting Manager having been responsible for managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes and preparation of financial statements to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Company policies.  Prior to joining Viracor Eurofins, he served as an Assistant Controller at Black & McDonald and a Financial Analyst at Sprint.  Mr. Pellman earned a BA in Business Administration and Finance from Kansas State University.

Director of Research & Development

Mark Wissel, Ph.D., MB (ASCP)CM

Mark Wissel is the Director of Research and Development at Eurofins Viracor BioPharma, where he is responsible for oversight of assay development & validation and Scientific Affairs.  He led a restructure to improve quality and capacity as well as scientists’ career advancement opportunities.  Prior to his current role, Dr. Wissel led assay development projects, two of which led to clinical evaluations in high impact factor journal publications while supporting business development and client education.

Dr. Wissel earned a PhD degree in Microbiology from the University of Iowa and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences typically related to biologics clinical trials testing.  He has a strong interest in statistics.

Dr. Wissel hopes to see the reach of Viracor’s high quality science expand to the benefit of many more patients.  When he’s not doing science, he enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, running, biking and DIY projects with friends.

Director of Research & Development, Oncology Diagnostics

Karina Eterovic, Ph.D., MSc

Dr. Karina Eterovic is the R&D Director, Oncology Diagnostics, responsible for leading the development of oncology clinical diagnostic solutions for the Eurofins U.S. Clinical Diagnostics group.  Dr. Eterovic joins us from MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she was the Associate Professor and Director of the Cancer Genomics Laboratory, as well as a driving force in the implementation of precision medicine at the prestigious institute — establishing a genomics laboratory for NGS research and enabling the discovery and identification of new biomarkers for personalized cancer care.  Dr. Eterovic has authored many publications in oncology journals and holds both her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Masters in Biochemistry from the University of Sao Paulo, Medical School, in Brazil. 

Director of Operational Services

Dan Shepherd

Dan Shepherd is the Director of Operational Services for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma.  He is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the project management and data management teams.  Prior to joining Viracor Eurofins, Dan held positions as an associate research scientist and study director in a GLP laboratory as well as a project manager for clinical supply services within a GMP facility.  During his tenure with Viracor Eurofins, Mr. Shepherd has contributed heavily to restructuring and implementing improved processes within the project management team.  Mr. Shepherd graduated from Central Michigan University with a BS in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry.

Director of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Oversight

Donna Steve

Donna Steve is the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Oversight for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma, overseeing the regulatory and quality needs of the division including Audit programs, Nonconforming Event program, regulatory training, and document review to name a few. Prior to joining the company in 2019, Mrs. Steve held positions in the laboratory as a scientist, in quality as an auditor or manager of quality control, and regulatory affairs for GLP laboratories, GCP Phase I clinic, GMP manufacturing facilities, and USDA manufacturing facility for animal vaccine production. Capitalizing on her expertise, Mrs. Steve brings a wealth of knowledge about laboratory compliance and quality standards to help build out our Quality Management System and guide the company through hosting client audits and conducting audits of the facility. Donna graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and from Kansas State University with a M.S. in Veterinary Biomedical Science.

Director of Information Technology

Tara Sullivan

Tara Sullivan is the Director of Information Technology for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma. In her role, she leads a group of software engineers and business analysts to develop and validate leading-edge technology to improve processes within the company.

With more than two decades of service within the laboratory and 10+ years within the BioPharma industry, Tara started her career as a clinical laboratory scientist on the microbiology and molecular diagnostic bench at LabOne/Quest.  Prior to returning to Viracor in 2019, Tara held a variety of leadership roles, most recently as Associate Director of Laboratory Operations at both IQVIA and then at Altasciences in their Early Clinical Development sites. 

Tara holds a BS degree in Medical Technology from Missouri State and is a certified medical technologist (ASCP). 

Scientific Affairs Leader

John Holtzclaw

John Holtzclaw is the Scientific Affairs Leader for Eurofins Viracor Biopharma.  He provides technical consultation to staff and business development leaders to support BioPharma clients and is a member of the Research & Development team. John oversees the contracts and proposals process for R&D assay development opportunities and serves as a liaison for collaboration across multiple business units. Mr. Holtzclaw has 15 years of scientific experience in the CRO industry and is also a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt who has led the implementation of several successful process improvements while at Eurofins Viracor. John joined Viracor in 2013 as a Research Scientist in the R&D department. Prior to joining Eurofins Viracor, he served as a Research Scientist in Molecular Diagnostics at Clinical Reference Laboratory. Mr. Holtzclaw graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science with a specialty in Molecular Biotechnology.

Associate Director of Laboratory Operations

Stephanie Schildknecht

Stephanie Schildknecht is the Associate Director of Laboratory Operations for Eurofins Viracor BioPharma. She provides oversight and leadership for the Biopharma Laboratory including sample management, assay validation, metrology, and laboratory operations. Ms. Schildknecht is also responsible for ensuring client satisfaction as well as quality and regulatory compliance in support of clinical trials.   Ms. Schildknecht has held many leadership positions within the laboratory since joining the company in 2014 and continues to implement new workflows and process improvements. Ms. Schildknecht received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Central Missouri State University and her Master’s degree in Ethical Strategic Leadership from the University of Central Missouri.
